LV 2-8-2 #390 - Lehigh Valley
Description:
This 1916 Baldwin built 2-8-2 Mikado #390 (serial #42958) was one of 45 locos in the unusual class labeled N-2 1/2. These Mikes repeated the Wootten-firebox N-2s that had brought such a large boiler to the LV through the adoption of 21-ft long tubes. The one difference (and it was an important one) was the use of 62" (later 63") drivers in place of the N-2's 56" (1422 mm) wheels. Unknown photographer took this photo

LV 2-8-2 #305 - Lehigh Valley

Specs from the back of the photo - N-2 class, 56" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 322,000 lb, tractive effort of 58,092. Unknown photographer.
