Album Info:Here are 13 original photos that I took while traveling from Rye, New York, to Washington, DC, on Sunday, 26 July 1987. All of these photos were taken during the days when Amtrak passenger trains made their only Westchester County stop in Rye. Amtrak trains now make their only Westchester stop in New Rochelle.

Shown here is a six-car Metro North Commuter Railroad train. It's just entering the Rye Passenger Station and will soon stop to discharge and taken on passengers on its journey from Stamford, Connecticut, to Grand Central Terminal in New York City. The name of the Engineman and numbers of the M-8 commuter cars pictured here are not recorded.

Shown here is Amtrak engine #925, an AEM7 built by GM-EMD in January of 1981 and rated at 7,000 horsepower. In this context, it's just entering the Rye Passenger Station and will soon stop to discharge and taken on passengers on its journey from Boston, Massachusetts, to Washington, DC. Wave to the Engineman!

Description:  R2W. Here is the fourth of 13 original photos that I took while riding in an Amtrak passenger train from Rye, New York, to Washington, DC, on 26 July 1987. Shown here (R to L) are Conrail engines #2013 and #1924. Both are B23-7's built by General Electric and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #2013 was constructed in September of 1979, while #1924 was built in May of 1978. In this context, they're pulling a southbound freight train through Mamaroneck, New York.

Description:  R2W. Here is the 13th of 13 original photos that I took while riding in an Amtrak passenger train from Rye (NY) to Washington (DC) on 26 July 1987. Shown here is the eastern portion of Sunnyside Yard. Visible at the far right is an AMTK E-60 locomotive built by General Electric. It is pulling a string of freshly-cleaned passenger cars, and is heading to the East River Tunnels and Penn Station ~ where it will pick-up passengers and then proceed lickety-split to Newark and points South.
