R2W. Here is the 13th of 13 original photos that I took while riding in an Amtrak passenger train from Rye (NY) to Washington (DC) on 26 July 1987. Shown here is the eastern portion of Sunnyside Yard. Visible at the far right is an AMTK E-60 locomotive built by General Electric. It is pulling a string of freshly-cleaned passenger cars, and is heading to the East River Tunnels and Penn Station ~ where it will pick-up passengers and then proceed lickety-split to Newark and points South. |
