R&GN 1924 "William E. Gardner" tops off with water for its next Pumpkin Train run
The big Pacific has now joined its ex-Milwaukee County Zoo stable-mate Atlantic No. 1916 on the RGN. Both were built by the Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works, which was based here at the RGN, so this is a homecoming of sorts for them. Formerly named for Milwaukee Journal chairman Irwin Maier (the Journal funded the purchase of the locomotives for the Zoo); upon arrival at the RGN it was renamed for former Wisconsin & Southern Railroad CEO Bill Gardner, who funded its sale "back" to RGN.
