Whiskey River 1996 emerges from the coach shed to begin the day's work |
Description: |
I return to the Little-A-Merricka park in Marshall after twenty years! While not based on any particular prototype, this locomotive (and its unpowered dummy sister 1997) were clearly inspired by the Soo Line/WC GP30s that had ALCo trucks. |

Even in 14 1/2" gauge, a 2-8-8-4 is big! At the time I was told they were attempting to re-gauge it to 16" for possible operation on the Whiskey River, but it ended up being sold off. |

Whiskey River Railway Day departure lineup |
Description: |
The much taller 1919, clearly built to a different scale than the three older Whiskey River Railway steam locomotives despite running on the same 16" gauge track, will pull the "varnish." The others will triple-head the "freight" train, led by 4-4-2 "Gracey." Unfortunately this year's steam event was cut short by inclement weather after two hours and two circuits by each train. |

Steaming back from the Whistle Stop Campground |
Description: |
Construction on an extension of the Whiskey River Railway's mainline loop commenced in 2016. The purpose was a sort of "branch line" to a small RV park which was to be established near Little Amerrika. The trains would shuttle campers to and from the amusement park. The loop opened in time for Whiskey River Railway Day 2017, but the campground didn't open until 2018. |
