Built by Baldwin in May of 1914 originally as Illinois Central #1533 (serial #41435), it was rebuilt and renumbered by the IC shops in April of 1944 to IC #1706. After nearly 41 years of dedicated service, the loco was sold for scrap in May of 1955. Original specs - 63.5" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 282,700 lb, tractive effort of 54,583 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
