PRR "Pennsylvania 612," K-4SA, 1957         
Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 612." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Pennsylvania Railroad, New York & Long Branch. One of the road's famed K-4 Pacifics is shown here awaiting train assignment at Bay Head Jct., New Jersey, in September of 1957. This photo was taken during the last days of steam when a valiant little band of K-4's made a last ditch stand against invading herds of diesels. Photo by Douglas Wornom." #612 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during April of 1917, later equipped with a front-end throttle and reclassified as a K-4SA, and retired in April of 1958 after 41 years of faithful service.
