SPM. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Morgan, New Jersey, on 18 August 1954. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5460, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in August of 1958 after 31 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pulling an eight-car passenger train on the New York & Long Branch line. "Faster than a speeding bullet!" |
