Here is a photo taken by Bob Lorenz that was published in David W. Seidel's 2008 book entitled "Images Of Rail: Horseshoe Curve," page 38. Partial Caption: "The PRR acquired its first diesel-electric locomotive as early as June 1937, but dieselization did not arrive until after World War II. Baldwin model RF-16 No. 2008, built in the 1950-1952 period, enters Horseshoe Curve." Engine #2008 is a BF-16 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1951, rated at 1,600 HP, and retired in July of 1966. |
