Seidel's "Horseshoe Curve," Page 33, 2008
Here is a photo from David W. Seidel's 2008 book entitled "Images Of Rail: Horseshoe Curve," page 33. Partial Caption: "A westbound consist is pictured around the 1940's headed by a Class J-1 Texas type, one of the largest of the World War II era, to carry the nation's freight and defensive shipments. The wheel arrangement on the massive locomotive is 2-10-4, and it could out-haul older classes of I-1's and M-1's and was well suited to mountain terrain."
