A CN unit train of tank cars parallels Broad St., passes the former C&NW depot and freight house, and approaches Washington Ave. as it heads south at Oshkosh, WI on 28 Jan. '18. Built by the Chicago firm of Clark & Fuller in 1884 on Broad St. between Washington Ave. and Merritt Ave. at a cost $15,000, it opened on 1 Dec. ’84. The depot was more ornate when completed, some of its interesting architectural elements have been removed over the years. The last passenger train, the Peninsula “400,” departed on 31 Jun. ’71. The depot is currently used by Clarity Care. Train had three locomotives, CN 2612, CN 5731, and CN 8877. |
