PRR 9837, EFP-15, 1966
Mid-Mountain. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engine #9837 and two GP-9's whose numbers were not recorded. All were built by EMD. #9837 is an EFP-15 built in 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains and are about to pass under four-track Signal Bridge #2397. Clear Board Ahead!
