Built by Baldiwn between 1922-23, this I1s class decapod was known for sheer power. Running on 62" drivers and developing a massive 250 psi boiler pressure for its 30.5"x32" diameter & stroke cylinders, this engine tipped the scales at 548,500 lb and delivered a whopping tractive effort of 102,027 lb. In 1930 , a majority of the class were rebuilt with with Type E superheater w/o feed water heaters. Note thefireman filling the tender from ther yard standpipe in this photo.
