After the eastbound passed, I found a spot on a hillside where I could watch it slowly coil its way through the desert landscape and, with luck, spy any westbounds approaching. I suppose a scanner would be wise, but after 40+ years of using and monitoring the radio Id just as soon listen to the birds. Well, I thought I was seeing the eastbound consist moving away off in the distance, and then noticed it was a westbound. So I scrambled down the hill and was blessed with a nice afternoon manifest. |
