Description:  Union Pacific Railroad class C-2 (cabside class C-57) 6324 at Council Bluffs, Iowa on an unknown day in February 1958, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. According to utahrails.net, this locomotive was built by the Brooks Works (Alco) in March 1908 (c/n 44996) for the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad as number 850. It became UP 324 at an unknown date and was renumbered to 6324 in 1957 to clear the 300 series numbers for use by new GP9s delivered in that year. It was off the roster in June 1958.

Description:  Southern Railway System (New Orleans & Northeastern) Ks3 class 2-8-0 6924 was parked near the railroad’s SCOTT STREET ROUNDHOUSE in New Orleans, displaying white flags and coupled to water car W.T. 6924 which had a full coal bunker. This locomotive was one of five Ks3 class Consolidations (6922-6926) built by Alco’s Richmond Works in 1926, and these were the newest, heaviest and most powerful steam locos used on the NO&NE. It was sold for scrap to Granite City Steel in December 1952. (approximate date of photo)
