Description:  FSF. Here is the first of two duplicate 35mm color slides via Al Chione that were taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1964. The photographer is not identified. At center-left are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9724 and a "BF" Class B-unit whose road number is not recorded. #9724 is a BF-16 constructed by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in March of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. At center-right are PRR engine #2213 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #2213 is an EF-22 built in March of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. Both trains have changed engine and train crews, and await movement orders to proceed up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Prominent here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9730 and a Shark "B" unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #9730 is a BF-16 built in February of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They're about to pass under Juniata's 8th Street Bridge with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way to 4th Street, where they'll stop for a crew change before proceeding up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Partially visible at the left is PRR engine #7602, an ES-17M built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower.
