Description:  Wood. Here is an image of a photo by Don Wood that was taken near Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, c. 1956. Wood's Caption: "Bay Head Jct. afforded many opportunities for shooting the unusual. Case in point: K-4's 5439 and 3750 flank passenger 'Shark' 5783." #5439 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958. #3750 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" constructed in Juniata as number "3750" in March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and presently on display as number "3750" at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. And #5783 is a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in November of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in November of 1964. William E. Burket Collection.

Description:  Here is a photo via Paul W. Prescott that was taken near Haddonfield, New Jersey, on 10 June 1957. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5439, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958 after 31 years of faithful service. Caption On Reverse: "No. 5439, 4-6-2, with a Race Track Special coming into the Garden State Race Track." Gary Mittner Collection.

Description:  Camden. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken inside of the PRSL Engine House in Camden, New Jersey, on 24 June 1957. The photographer is not identified. Partially visible here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5439, #4035, and another locomotive whose number is not recorded. #5439 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958. #4035 is a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata during November of 1916 and retired in November of 1957. ("Stoneborobranch"; #56 of 69)

The time was October, 1957, three weeks before the end of all steam operations on the Pennsylvania R.R. Photo by Don Wood." #5439 is a K-4S (4-6-2) built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958 after 31 years of faithful service. Mr. Woods' Caption: "K4 5439 poses in the doorway of South Amboy enginehouse. The time was late on two counts: the 1:30 AM photo time plus the curtain coming down on the career of the engine herself, as well as for all Pennsy steam. The end was less than a month away, at this was October, 1957."
