Description:  I came across this photo graph years ago. Theres a lot here; archbar truck, hand operated derick, an eager young man at work, and an old box car. In tge origional scan it looks like it is R.C.C.&St L.R. # 7291. On the back of the Cabnet Photograph it says "Lehigh Valley Delano?" I place this photograph between 1895 and 1905. At least the image isnt settinb in a shoe box any more.... /DL

Description:  From the rear door window of the Zephyr somewhere in Nevada looking east. I dub this scene: COMMUNICATIONS. Two sets of telegraph poles carrying over a dozen apparently in service pairs plus a UHF / microwave antenna on the short tower beside the shelter. I suspect the radio link will eclipse the wire web in the not distant future. The scene is topped off with both an east and a west aspect signal. The rock warning/mitigation fence is a very nice touch too. Oh and then theres the track, my favorite... /DL
