SLSF 2-8-0 #961 - St Louis-San Francisco
Description:
Built by ALCo-Dickson in September of 1902 as St Louis, Memphis & Southeastern #275, it was renumbered SLSF #961 in 1903 when the StLM&SE merged into the Frisco roster. After 44 years of service, the loco was scrapped in May of 1946. Specs - class 270/956, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x28" cylinders, engine weight of 174,500 lb, tractive effort of 36,800 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo

With a full head of steam, Frisco 2-8-0 Consolidation #964 is ready to roll out. Sadly, less than a year from this photo, the loco was be scrapped in April of 1947 after nearly 45 years of service. The loco was originally built by ALCo-Dickson in September of 1902 as St Louis, Memphis & Southeastern #278 but renumbered in 1903 to SLSF #964 seen here.
