Housatonic Railroad Train NX-12 at Ice Glen
Description:
Rolling along at 40MPH on FRA Class III trackage, Housatonic Railroad Company EMD GP35 #3601 leads #3604 and 27 cars, 15 loads and 12 empties, through the curve at the Ice Glen Trailhead and bridge over the Housatonic River in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The Conductor standing behind the cab was seemingly just taking in the view as the train rolled through town. In mere minutes, the train would stop at Lenox and switch the Waste Transfer Facility before cutting in another car headed for Pittsfield.

Title:
After the New Haven
Description:
After the New York, New Haven & Hartford was merged into Penn Central and its successor went bankrupt, a Government-funded organization known as Conrail, the Consolidated Rail Corporation, took control of the Berkshire Line, while passenger service on the line ended under the control of Penn Central, Conrail operated many of local freight trains over the line with switcher or road switcher locomotives, this EMD SW9, built for the PRR and later owned by Conrail, may have very well once seen itself powering a local along the Housatonic River on the Berkshire Line at some point in its past.

A Meet on the Berkshire Line
Description:
While NYNH&H ALCo RS-3 #562 holds the siding at Lenox awaiting its turn to enter the station, NYNH&H GE 50 Tonner #67 boards passengers at the 1902-built station. In reality, these are the units of the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum, neither of which ever saw service on the New York, New Haven & Hartford. The NYNH&Hs Berkshire Line, which many similar locomotives once operated on, is now owned by the Housatonic Railroad and is traversed almost daily by newer, though not by much, EMD GP35 diesel electric locomotives.

Housatonic Railroad NX-13 at River Road
Description:
An hour and a half after switching the Canaan yards, Housatonic Railroad NX-13 comes around a bend along the Housatonic River on approach to the first River Road crossing in West Cornwall, with HRRC EMD GP35 #3604 and its fouled Conrail-tuned Leslie RS3L air horn leading and GP35s #3601 and #3602 trailing. #3602, which has recently been assigned to NX-10 south of New Milford, but had been taken to Canaan to be serviced and fueled, is now deadheading back to New Milford to take over south-of-New Milford operations from GP35M #3600. Due to track condition, which led to multiple minor derailments in the last few years, a 10MPH speed restriction is now in place south of Canaan, Connecticut, the previous 25MPH limit, which the crews would often push to 30MPH or more, was unsafe.
