The Texas & Pacific local which originated at RACE STREET YARD in New Orleans was on its way back home with Ten-Wheeler 386, water car 25218 and caboose 2382. The little train had left its cars at AVONDALE YARD, at the west end of the Huey P. Long Bridge, and was operating over the New Orleans Public Belt behind Audubon Park. The 386 was one of 40 D-10 class locos that had been built by Alco’s Cooke Works in October 1907 and it was on the roster until March 1952. |
