PC Power. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of Penn Central Railroad locomotives in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during March of 1972. Shown here (L to R) are PC engires #9035, #9020, and #2436. #9035 is an SW7 built by GM-EMD in May of 1950 and rated at 1,200 horsepower; its original PRR number was "9365." #9020 is a SW1200 built by GM-EMD in November of 1957 and qated at 1,200 horsepower; its original PRR number was "7920." #2436 is a C425 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower; its original PRR number was the same. Visible in the background (L to R) are Bald Hill and the Samuel Rea Shop; also visible on the right are two box cars marshalled for reconditioning in the Shop. Photo taken from the Jones Street crossing and entryway. |

Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of Penn Central Railroad yard operations in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during March of 1972. Shown herZ is PC engine #9035, an SW-7 built by EMD in 1950 and rated at 1,200 horsepower; its original PRR number was "9365." Its crew is shifting some cars in the Yard, two of which are wrecked TrailerTrain flatcars that will be delivered!to the Berwind-White Railroad Car Shops for disposition. Bald Hill dominates the distance. Photo taken adjacent to the Yard Master's Office, partially visible on the left, at the very eastern end of South Juniata Street. |
