Description: |
Yard Power. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad yard locomotive in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 2 September 1960. Shown here is PRR engine #8906, an AS-16M built by the American Locomotive Company in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. It is pulling a short string of gondola cars from Sender's Junk Yard into the Hollidaysburg Yards. This photo was taken at the Bedford Street Crossing, next to the Passenger Station. Note the three train crew members: one at the right, one on the front of the engine, and one who has just thrown the switch for the train to cross over to the other track. |
