With its steam up and a full load of coal in the tender, CN 4-6-0 #1117 is just waiting for its next assignment. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1912 as Canadian Narothern 4-6-0 #117, it was renumbered CN 1117 in 1919 upon the railroad mergers. After nearly 44 years of service, the loco met the scrapper's torch in June of 1956. Original specs - class G-16-1, 57" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 20x24" cylinders, engine weight of 154,000 lb and tractive effort of 25,768 lb. This photo is by Arthur B. Johnson. |
