Here is page nine of a ten-page article by David P. Morgan entitled "The Lima Story:1 ~ Super Power." It was published originally in the January 1952 issue of "Trains & Travel" magazine, page 20. Partial Caption: "Lima's last locomotive ~ Pennsylvania Railroad 2500-horsepower transfer diesel No. 5683 ~ was taken outside the plant by the works' Plymoouth yard engine on Wednesday, September 12, 1951." Prominent here is PRR engine #5683, an LS-25 built in September 1951 and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. |

Here is an original photo by John S. Fisher. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5683, an LS-25 transfer diesel built by the Lima Locomotive Works in September of 1951, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. It was the last locomotive built by Lima. The road number of the N-6B cabin car, the date, and the location are not recorded. |
