Although it's 1941, this loco's vender still carries the "C&EI" marking, not the loco number which was done sometime during 1941. Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1918, it's a fine looking Mikado. Specs - cless N-2, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,779 lb. With the exception of 1930 (boiler explosion), all retired August 1949 to August 1950. The location for the photo was gjven as "Lincoln Fields", now Crete, iL. W.C. Whittaker photo |
