WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona on 3 July 1964. Shown here (F to R) is PRR engine #9730 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #9730 is a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in February of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of service. They're pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight train near Mount Union, Pennsylvania. |
