Three of these engines were assigned to The Stone Train BS-2 East and SB-3 West between Bittinger and Sparrows Pt hauling lime and flux for Bethlehem Steel six days a week, Sunday through Friday. The other two SD 35 engines ran in manifest service all over the System. When one of the three went down or was due for a Q one of the two other SD-35's were worked into the rotation. In late spring of 1974 I rode on either the 7432 or the 7433 on AJ-3 from Port Covington in Baltimore to Pangborn in Hagerstown. We went on the hours of service law there. I had riden on one of three black and gold 7470 series SD 40s earlier that day being called east on WM-6 at 2am. I rode that train to qualify on the railroad between Emory Grove and Port Covington as I was an Operator posting at Emory Grove.
