Appears to be No 5 with the RPO for St.Paul. Like the rods are there and the Redbirds down the scale trk lead. Those old autos up on Warner Rd don't hurt either. Good stuff.

Supplimental. The photo also conveys some good operational stuff. Note the storage mail ahead of the RPO. Milw had the mail contract CHI/St.Paul. The streamlined car (2nd) was a GN to be cut in to the Builder(No 31) 3hrs behind this. At this time No 3 left CUS 2:20 mins behind No 5 but with less work along the way, closed the gap to 1:15 mins arr at St Paul. Bonus,a what we up on the northend called "graybacks" down at Dayton's Bluff yd. We didn't think of the F's as graybacks, altough they were gray. Did the rest of the Q apply this theory or were the F's considered the graybacks? I've heard it both ways. Can anybody clear up this point? Since this is all gone but preserved by shots like this,it is purely a nostalgia point. Thanks again Marty.

Out of sight, to the left of the bridge is the infamous Burlington Hotel. Grand lodging for LaCrosse train crews during their layover!
