Nicknamed "The Lindbergh Engine" for pulling a special Washington, D.C.-New York City charter train carrying newsreel footage of Charles Lindbergh's return to the United States following his famous 1927 New York-Paris solo flight. A rival newsreel company sent their footage via aircraft, which arrived in New York first, but the film brought by train "won" by getting into theaters first because it was able to be processed on board the train. |
