AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1962. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9682 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9682 was constructed as an EH-15 in February of 1949, rebuilt as an EF-15A, and retired in November of 1965 after just 16 years of revenue service. This A-A set is rounding the Curve with a fully-loaded mineral train on its way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona. Produced and distributed by FJC Products of Newport, Delaware. |
