ASRY 31
The Ashland Railroad had been on my radar for some time the past few years, and finally I decided to hit it up after getting word from a fellow railfan that the branch from Mansfield to Ashland usually pops with color during the Fall. Ashland operates a daily local to and from the said towns, but it begins its day quite early in the morning. The goal was to shoot it going to Ashland. But, that was not the case, as by the time I made it into Mansfield, it was already working in Ashland. I was a bit worried that I had missed it all together. But thankfully as I got closer to Ashland I could hear radio transmissions between the conductor and engineer. A train master was sitting at the first crossing outside of town, so I ended up moving to the next crossing, CR 1356, and waited there. After some waiting, the train received a warrant to head back to Mansfield. One of two GP9 high hoods was leading the train today, unfortunately long hood, but that was the way they were designed I suppose.
