Shown here is the pedestrian walkway on the Union Street Bridge. The Bridge spans the Pennsylvania Railroad's freight yards at this point, but was demolished in 1966 upon completion of the new Penn Street/Route 36 bridge. Incidentally, the two tracks in the foreground occupy the original right-of-way of the Allegheny Portage Railroad (c. 1840). |
