Coal Power. Here is the second of two successive 35mm color slides showing (L to R) Pennsylvania Railroad engine #370 (with double-dip tenders) and an ALCo road switcher whose road number is not recorded. #370 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during June of 1916 and retired in September of 1959 after 43 years of service. In the foreground are two PRR "EF" Class diesels built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. Symbolically speaking, oil power is pushing coal power out of existence forever! The photographer's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. Slide produced and distributed by FJC Products of Newport, Delaware. |
