Old Rivets. Here is an original 35mm color slide by H.W. Johnson that was taken in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, in June of 1987. Shown here is a plaque entitled "National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark, Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 Electric Locomotive No. 4800." PRR engine #4800 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric locomotive built by General Electric as number "4899" during August of 1934, rated at 4,620 horsepower, renumbered "4800" in November of 1934, owned successively by Penn Central and Conrail, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. |
