St Louis Union Station
The dark clouds of the impending rainstorm add a contrast to the light colored Indiana limestone exterior. At its 1894 opening, the station was the largest in the world that had tracks and passenger service areas all on one level. During its peak service in the 1940's, at least 100,000 people a day used the station. The last train was Amtrak in 1978. After that, it was renovated as a hotel, shjopping center and entertainment complex.
