MILW 2-8-0 #1226 - MIlwaukee Road
Sitting forlornly in the scrap line is MILW 2-8-0 Consolidation built by ALCo-Brooks in December of 1912. Originally it carried the number first as CMStP #7226, then CMStP&P 7226 and finally in 1938 renumbered to MILW 1226. The loco met with the scrapper's torch after retirement in February of 1954. As seen here, it is over a year later after retirement and already missing pieces. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.
