| Blackhawk. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken in Wilmington, Delaware, on 18 June 1971. Photo Caption: "AS-616, Penn Central No. 6974. Wilmington, Del. June 18, 1971." PC #6974 is an AS-616 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton as Pennsylvania Railroad number "8974" in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and renumbered "6974" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Baldwins in Action ~ On North-Eastern Railroads" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (892-39). |
