Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near North Madison, Indiana, on 29 April 1959. Prominent here are the derail and its associated signal at the apex of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 5.9%-graded line linking Madison and North Madison. Normally, it's kept in the "open" position to prevent freight cars from running away down the hill. |
