A CN local approaches Towmen Rd. as it transitions from the former SOO rails to the former C&NW rails as it heads northeast at Shawano Junction, Fox Crossing, Winnebago Co., WI (formerly Town of Menasha, Winnebago Co., WI, from 1855 until 14 Apr. 2016) on 11 Mar. '23. This spot used to be named Fox River Junction, after several segments of the original C&NW main line through Menasha and Neenah were removed and a turnout was installed here which allows the bypass of missing C&NW rails by using former SOO rails. The facility visible in the background is Warehouse Specialists, Inc. (WSI). This facility has not received rail service for quite a while, but could be served via former SOO rails. The C&NW rails were laid in 1861. The SOO rails were originally laid by the W&N in 1920. |
