Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Roundhouse in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, on 12 May 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4311, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S in November of 1922, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959 after 37 years' service. Note the Hostler on the tender's deck, replenishing its reservoir. "Fill 'er up, Mack!" Gary Mittner Collection. |
