PRR 6404, J-1A, 1950
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on 28 May 1950. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6404, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during June of 1943 and retired in November of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, it's pulling a high-and-wide special through the Passenger Station. Gary Mittner Collection.
