Built by ALCo-Brooks in July of 1917 as Wabash 2-10-2 2519 (serial #57571), the loco served until being handed over to the railroad brokerage firm of Georgia Car & Locomotive Company who sold it to the Chicago & Illinois Midland as their new addition, CIM #659 on 2/2/1950. It lasted just two years on the CIM roster before retirement and scrapped occurred in March of 1952. Specs - 75" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 29x32" cylinders, engine weight of 395,000 lb and tractive effort of 75,079 lb. This photo was taken by Arthur B. Johnson. |
