AW. Here is an image of a photo by Arlington J. Wolfe that was taken from the 9th Street Footbridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5530, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during January of 1946 and retired in December of 1953 after just seven years of revenue service. It's proceeding from the East Altoona Roundhouse to the Passenger Station, where it will await its next passenger run up the Allegheny Mountains to Pittsburgh. William E. Burket Collection. |
