| Truly a sad photo showing the massive scrap line at the former Pere Marquette yard in New Buffalo, MI. The unknown photographer listed the following PM locos in the line - 1238, 1229, 1231, 1228, 1232, and 1237. They were all written off the C&O roster (PM merged into the C&O in 1947 but these were not renumbered) but sat here until the scrapper's torch was ordered in 1961. What a massive pile of steel this line would have made! No photographer was listed for the photo. |
