New Portage. Here is an original photo by Bruce D. Fales. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3700, an HC-1S (2-8-8-0) "Articulated" built in Juniata during June of 1919 and retired in August of 1929 after just a decade of service. In this context, the Flagman may have just uncoupled #3700 from the train after a successful "pusher" run up the New Portage Branch line. Note the antique truck on the N-5 cabin car. The Flagman's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. (#8,800) |
