Built by Baldwin in March of 1935, this Boston & Maine 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive was given the name "Oliver Wendell Holmes" in the naming contest held when it was delivered to the B&M. The loco served until dieselization forced its sale to the B&O in 7/28/1947. The loco became BO 5650 and renumbered in 1956 to BO 750. It was dropped from the B&O roster in 1957. Specs - serial #61825, class R-1a, 73" drivers, impressive 240 psi boiler pressure, 18x31" cylinders, engine weight of 416,100 lb, tractive effort of 67,900 lb.
