Mann. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 23 June 1963. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7105 and another "Geep" whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7105 was constructed in May of 1957. In this context, they're about to enter one of the Gallitzin Tunnels with a short iron-ore train ~ as evidenced by the cabin car and rear-end pushers, just down grade a bit. The two eastbound tracks just out of the New Portage Tunnel ~ aka "The Slide" ~ are visible at the right. ("PrrFan18n") |
