Mann. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) by an unidentified photographer that was taken from BANKS Tower near Perdix, Pennsylvania, on 24 August 1957. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5879 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5879 was constructed in April of 1949. In this context, this A-B-A set is pulling a passenger train that's just crossed the Susquehanna River Bridge on its way to Altoona and points West. (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
