Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred R. Kern that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, on 9 January 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9567 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9567 was built in September of 1948 and retired in August of 1967 after just 19 years of revenue service. This A-B-A set is heading toward the Enola Yards with a mixed-cargo freight train out of Altoona. |
